A customer having an idea to automatic detect and send reports to customer upon vermin detected. The focus of the design was prize and battery lifetime, so it had to be a simple and costeffective solution, but still having support for multiple sensors and execution of advanced algorithm code. Communication to cloud should support data upload and firmware download
Solution
The solution was to use a newly ‘introduced’ 5G Narrow Band modem using e-sim capabilities. The controller was a STM32L0xx micro controller, which handled interface to different sensors e.g. battery, temperature, weight, motion, etc.. Furthermore, the main application should control sleep/low power states, in order to wake up upon detection and at certain intervals. The solution included Azure cloud communication, including device firmware update (OTA).
